Today is BBC Radio 6 Music’s 5th ‘Wear your old band t-shirt to work day’ and I’m sure that many of you dear readers will be bearing clothing emblazoned with the names of your favourite groups.
Last year I wore a touching little number from Stourbridge’s very own starlets ‘Pop Will Eat Itself’, which dated back to the early 1980’s.
Today I have scurried through the bottom drawer to dig out this old Smith’s t-shirt.
I still love this t-shirt but it is now a former relic of it’s once true beauty. It has badly yellowed and it stinks like the top stairs of Dudley’s Ring and Ride chauffeur service.
Never mind, for one day I will suffer this affront to my smell receptors, to once again wallow in the nostalgia of the adventures I encountered whilst wearing this sacred item of clothing.
Smart yet practical!
Update 13:00hrs: Frank gets his picture on the BBC website carousel. Don’t know what happened there as it is not the picture above. I do like the caption though ” Frank at his desk in The Smiths Tee, with Baggies tea.”
