A BIG THANK YOU to everybody who supported this years Socks and Chocs for the Homeless appeal.
‘Socks and Chocs for the Homeless‘ is an initiative started by Ian Northcott, and supported by his work colleagues, to provide homeless people in Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton with a few basic home comforts at Christmas.
The total donations made to the homeless this year are:
1488 pairs of socks
886* boxes of Chocs
270 hats/gloves etc
60 sleeping bags
*the Chocs this year were counted per big bag/box/multi packs and not individual bars like last year.
The last word from Ian: “I think this is a fabulous result in the current climate and you should all be proud of yourselves. I will bother you all again next September for Socks and Chocs 2013. Thanks again and have a lovely day”
Remember, you can continue to donate to this worthy cause in readiness for next Christmas.
If you feel like donating a pair of socks to our cause, Coventry Cyrenians can take delivery direct to their HQ.
Please make sure you write Socks and Chocs 2013 clearly on the package.

Hi
How can i become more involved please? Im happy to collect and donate but would love to do more too…im a nurse at City hospital birmingham.
Hi Justine
Many thanks for your fab comment above.
The best way of helping us is to do exactly what you have kindly offered – local collections of socks and chocs are important – the more of these there are, the more likely we are to reach our dream goal of 16000 pairs of socks this Christmas.
Its great to have an enthusiastic ambassador like yourself on board – spread the word and you will find, like myself, that there are other people who want to help – my own experience as a key influencer touched a local brownie pack, St Johns Ambulance brigade and the Parkrun runners/volunteers down at Cannon Hill.
Nearer to Christmas please contact myself or Ian to arrange pickup of your donations.
In the meantime, should you want any further advice or guidance please feel free to contact me.
Kind regards
Lesley
Do you take used (but wearable) socks?
Hi Amy, yes, as long as they are not threadbare and are clean and washed.
